Look for cracks, deep rust, dents or anything loose. Do not ride a bicycle with structural damage.
Ride safely

a proper check.
Every bicycle is provided as described by its giver. Recycle Your Bicycle does not inspect or certify listings.
Before collection
Meet in daylight, preferably in a public place or with another adult present. Never send money or identification. Tell someone where you are going.
The exact collection address should only be shared after a request is accepted. Children must not arrange or attend a collection without a parent or guardian.
Brakes
Both brakes should stop the wheels firmly without the levers touching the handlebars.
Tyres and wheels
Check tyre pressure, splits, worn tread, loose spokes and side-to-side wheel movement.
Steering
The handlebars and front wheel should point the same way. Nothing should knock or bind when turning.
Chain and pedals
Check the chain moves freely and both pedals and cranks are secure.
Professional check
If you are unsure about anything, walk the bicycle home and ask a bike shop or community workshop to inspect it.
Stop if anything feels wrong.
