Who can use the service
You must be at least 18 years old. A parent or guardian may list or request a children’s bicycle. People and verified community organisations may participate, but commercial selling is not allowed.
Everything is free
Listings must be genuine gifts for $0. You must not request payment, deposits, required delivery fees, swaps or anything else of value. We do not process payments.
Prohibited items
Used helmets, e-bikes, batteries and electric conversion kits are not allowed during the pilot. Parts-only listings are not accepted. DotJess may expand or change this list as the service develops.
Ownership and lawful use
You may only list a bicycle you own or have permission to give away. Stolen goods, misleading listings and attempts to obtain personal information are prohibited.
Condition and inspection
Non-rideable bicycles may be listed when marked Needs repair. Givers must disclose every known fault. Recipients are responsible for inspecting the bicycle before riding it and arranging professional advice when unsure. Recycle Your Bicycle does not own, possess, inspect, certify or guarantee listed bicycles.
Collection and conduct
Use respectful private messages, protect personal information and arrange collection safely. Pickup is the default, but both people may agree to drop-off. The giver chooses the recipient. Sending a request does not reserve a bicycle or create an entitlement to receive it.
Moderation
Verified listings publish automatically. DotJess may review, hide or remove listings and restrict access where needed to protect the community or enforce these terms. Three separate reports temporarily hide a listing pending review. We aim to respond within three business days.
